Researchers have found that acrylic has the ability to hold the energetic frequencies of substances that are in contact with it.  By placing the arm of the acrylic plate into the slot at the top of the unit instead of a colored slide, it is theoretically possible to transfer the energetic frequency of any substance on the plate to the light.  As the light passes through the transparent acrylic arm, it picks up the frequency of the substance and carries it with it.
